About My Training Method

My journey began before I ever laid my hands on horses when I delved into the study of Chinese kung fu, tai chi, chi gong, and other Taoist practices. This led me towards a focus towards seeking harmony with nature, which transferred well to the horses.

My study of the martial arts provided me with both a philosophical standpoint, and a strong physical basis from which to begin my horsemanship journey.

I do not like using pressure, and I do not like confrontation, or correction. If possible, I encourage the horse through the proper placement and use of my core energy, rather than using whips or spurs. Rather than resorting to sacking out, I try to build the horse’s confidence through mutual breathing as well as training their nervous system to regulate on a more efficient basis.

To me, horses are friends. They are teachers, and they are guides. They are not employs, or a paycheck. Each and every one of them is special to me and I hope to help and learn from as many as I can!

About the Masterson Method

The Masterson Method^® is a unique, interactive method of equine bodywork that anyone can learn, to help build trust with the horse. Years of stress and stiffness can often be resolved in a few sessions, by relieving built-up tension in core muscles and key junctions of the body that affect the horse’s performance.

With The Masterson Method^®, you learn to recognize and use the responses of the horse to find and release tension. In contrast to traditional massage, it works with the horse’s nervous system and the horse actively participates in the process. It is something you do with the horse, rather than to the horse. This participation and interaction are what makes the method fulfilling for those who use it and transformational for the horse.
